Rare Kunekune Pasture Pork & Kunekune Charcuterie

Alberta's First Kunekune Pasture Pork & Kunekune Charcuterie

When we decided to raise a pasture grazing non-rooting pig, we never realized actually how amazing the pork this breed produced.


The meat is dark red with marbling throughout giving it flavor, tenderness and juiciness. Due to Kunekunes majority of feed intake being forage based, their fat has a low melting point which is like nothing that we had tasted from any other swine breed, it literally melts in your mouth with a very much edible texture.


Additionally, we are happy to be the first breeder and pork supplier in Western Canada to be offer our clients and customers the opportunity to try a full selection of our amazing rare Kunekune Pasture Pork!  We are also proud to be offering a full line of Charcuterie Products.

Pasture Raised & Feed

Our farm works closely with swine nutritionists for a balanced feed intake for our pasture grazing Kunekunes. All our feed is antibiotic free, animal by product free, hormone free, soy free and corn free.


Our pigs are hand fed their soaked grain by myself and my husband morning and night, every day, Our feed is locally sourced and contains barley, wheat, wheat DDGs (wheat pellets sourced from human grade flour mill), peas, sunflower seeds, lysine, amino acids, vitamins, minerals and enzymes for feed efficiency. On top of their 1.7lbs (DM) of grain per day, they receive dairy quality second cut hay in Fall and Winter months and in Spring and Summer lush pasture grazing of a mix of grasses, legumes and herbs. Our Kunekunes are a labor of love but we wouldn’t have it any other way!

What makes our product different? 


We are proud to be a farrow to finish operation. What does this mean? Our pigs are born and raised by us from Day 1. We are even prouder that our pigs never experience a commercial like setting. 


So what is different:


  • Our farrowing sows are never in farrowing crates but in big open 10x10 stalls with the ability to move freely at all times, and to build a nest like nature intended with outdoor access;
  • We are a strong believer in co-parenting and socializing our sows and piglets in groups and pasture settings;
  • Our piglets are not weaned at a normal breed standard of 8 weeks but stay with their moms till 10-12 weeks age for increase growth, exposure and socialization. This also means no stress weaning for both sows and piglets;
  • All our pigs live in large social groups. We do not believe in secluding or isolating any pig. 

To us, all the above means our pigs are satisfied mentally and physically which means they are producing to their fullest and even more, producing outstanding pork!
